I am a London-based strategist and communications specialist and I’m not very good at smiling in photographs.
I’ve spent most of my career starting or helping others start new things – from international research projects through to national campaigns and new businesses.
This is how I eventually worked out that what I’m good at and enjoy most is helping people develop, refine and communicate what they do.
It’s taken me years to settle on a crisp description of what I do – no-one really gets it – and yes, I do see the irony in this. My current best attempt is ‘I help people work out what matters most and what to do next’.
This seems to work, but it’s not exactly catchy, hence the Pitch Doctor.
